“Your husband called and said you can buy anything you want.”
This sign hangs in the Kitchen Craft booth at the Timmins Construction Association’s Home Show, taking place this weekend at the McIntyre Arena.
The booth is run by a couple who came from Texas to display waterless cookware.
They also put on a cooking show, allowing an audience to their product in action.
Kitchen Craft is one of 80 vendors with booths set up all-weekend long at The McIntyre Arena. Some offer construction equipment, others sell home decor and one even does bathtub inserts and reglazing.
There’s a booth selling above-ground pools, one pushes pest control and another sells sliding doors.
This is the 20th year for the Construction Association’s Home Show. Association president Bob Burey said they’re expecting more people than ever.
Generally the show draws 10,000 throughout the three days. This year, organizers are expecting 11,000 to 12,000 visitors will pass through its gates.
The Home Show has been fairly large since its inception, Burey said.
“We always sell out early for booths,” he said.
“Suppliers in town realize they need to advertise more because of the state of the economy.”
The number of construction booths has continued to grow each year, he said. Although the variety is what draws people out.
About 50% of the exhibitors are new this year.
“We always try to get different companies in,” Burey said.
There will be two door prizes drawn throughout the weekend, each for an air purifier.
The Home Show runs today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Sunday, doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.
